Nutmeg Essential Oil


Details
Nutmeg, Myristica fragrans is an evergreen tree native to the Moluccas of Indonesia. It is widely grown across the tropics including China, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka and South America.

It is an evergreen tree, usually around 10 – 15 m in height but have been reported to grow as high as 30 m. The leaves are dark green in color, 5 – 15 cm in length and 2 – 7 cm wide. The flowers are light yellow in color and bell-shaped. The fruits are pear shaped and 6 – 9 cm long with a diameter of 3.5 – 5 cm. When ripe, the fruit splits into two halves down the length of the fruit. A purplish brown seed measuring 2 – 3 cm long and about 2 cm wide is found inside.
