Frankincense – Boswellia carterii, is an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia in the family Burseraceae. It is tapped from the scraggy hardy trees by slashing the bark and letting the resin flow out and harden. The hardened streaks of resin are called tears.
Frankincense has been traded on the Arabian Peninsula for more than 6,000 years and it is very popular.
